Careers

An architectural education is challenging and comprehensive, combining a liberal arts education with polytechnic education. It prepares students to self-actualize and provides them with the skill sets they need for success, including ingenuity, collaboration and problem-solving. Most students seek the traditional career path working in an architectural office, but many also pursue careers or work in related fields, such as:

  • Interior design, urban design, product design, fashion design, set design
  • Web design, graphic design
  • Construction management, building, development
  • Education

  • Internships: The Architecture Experience Project (APX)

Students intending to pursue a career in architecture must follow the requirements set forth by the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB). All of NCARB’s 54 US jurisdictions require individuals to gain and document a certain amount of experience before becoming eligible to sit for the license and become a registered architect. This experience must be consistent with requirements and procedures of the Architecture Experience Program (AXP) program. Students pursuing a career in architecture are highly encouraged to visit the NCARB APX website.
