Careers

An architectural education is challenging and comprehensive, combining a liberal arts education with polytechnic education. It prepares students to self-actualize and provides them with the skill sets they need for success, including ingenuity, collaboration and problem-solving. Most students seek the traditional career path working in an architectural office, but many also pursue careers or work in related fields, such as:

  • Interior design, urban design, product design, fashion design, set design
  • Web design, graphic design
  • Construction management, building, development
  • Education

Information for:

  • Licensure and the Architectural Experience Program (AXP)

To become a licensed architect, all candidates must follow the requirements set forth by the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB), including earning a NAAB accredited degree, completing the Architectural Experience Program (AXP), and passing the Architect Registration Exam (ARE). Students pursuing a career in architecture are encouraged to visit NCARB.org for information on the Architectural Experience Program (AXP) and the Architect Registration Exam (ARE). Professional experience with an architecture firm is valid for the AXP if gained after high school graduation.
