CACM Advising: Advising Process

advising process

What is Academic Advising?

Academic advising is a collaborative relationship between a student and an academic advisor within a respectful environment that values the uniqueness and diversity of our students, faculty, and staff. The purpose of this relationship is to guide students in the decision-making process throughout their academic journey. CACM advisors help students navigate through major selection, degree requirements, course schedules, college and university policies, and campus resources. Advising is a student-centered, on-going process that changes with you as you gain knowledge and earn your degree.

You create the path to your career.  Advising is here to help you move forward, clear obstacles, and connect you with resources to increase your success.

  • Advising Office Hours are Monday-Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm
  • CACM Advising is located in the Student Success Headquarters on the first floor of the Design 1 Building.

There are two advising office suites:  one across from the CACM Student Success Computer Lab and another to the left, upon entering the building.

  • CoACM Advisors are available during specified drop-in hours and by appointment.

Appointments are scheduled through this Schedule an Advising Appointment link using your KSU ID and KSU email address—click the link to see appointment types and availability.

Appointments are best to review semester course schedules, graduation plans, registration holds, major declaration changes, and other questions or concerns that could impact academics.

Drop-in opportunities are offered on Wednesdays between 10:00AM - 12:00PM and 2:00PM - 4:00PM either in person or virtually through Microsoft Teams. See the posted schedule for available times.

Drop-in hours are best used for quick questions or concerns and to inquire about important dates and deadlines. Some drop-in meetings may be converted to a scheduled appointment if the matter cannot be resolved quickly or needs follow up.

Please visit Appointments for additional information.
