If you are registered for the 2022 Architecture Summer Design Workshop, please click the information button for important updates.
InformationThe Architecture Summer Design Workshop is an architecture summer program for college students at KSU to receive class credit before the regular Fall semester begins! Let KSU’s world-class professors open your mind to the world of architecture and design all while earning two credit hours toward one of your degree requirements. You can have fun, meet new friends, and lighten your load for the regular fall semester.
This residential program will help you get a head-start on making friends, getting to know the campus, and participating in student programming. In addition to engaging daily programs that connect you to campus life, students will take a weekend excursion trip to an Atlanta attraction and more!
The Workshop is partnering with "First Flight" by KSU's New Student Programs to provide a comprehensive extracurricular program. While the Architecture Summer Design Workshop and First Flight are academically separate, both programs will be held on the Marietta campus at the same time. Participants in both First Flight and the Architecture Summer Design Workshop will have access to some of the same events, including excursions, meals and social events. For additional details about First Flight and the out of the classroom experience for the Architecture Summer Design Workshop, please visit the New Student Programs website or contact their office at ksuorientation@kennesaw.edu.
NOTE: You must be accepted to KSU as a first-year student and Architecture Major for Fall 2022 and sign up for a New Student Orientation session to be accepted to the Summer Design Workshop.

FAQs
We have provided a list of our most common questions below. Still have other questions? Contact ksuorientation@kennesaw.edu!
-
Can I bring a car to campus for the workshop?Yes, participants can bring a car to campus. A Fall 2022 Parking Permit is required to avoid being ticketed during First Flight. Click here for parking information.
-
Is the Architecture Summer Design Workshop the same thing as First Flight? The Architecture Summer Design Workshop is academically separate from First Flight, but both programs will be held on the Marietta campus at the same time. Participants in both First Flight and the Architecture Summer Design Workshop will have access to some of the same events, including excursions, meals and social events.
-
When is payment for the workshop due?Payment is due on the Fall 2022 payment deadline. Click here to view the Fall 2022 Academic Calendar for a list of dates and deadlines.
-
Why am I seeing a charge for Fall 2022 fees on my account?First Flight is billed as part of the Fall 2022 semester and carries full Fall 2022 semester fees. Participants are responsible for these fees even if they choose not to take any other classes during Fall 2022.
-
Will I be living in my Fall 2022 housing assignment during the workshop? No, students will be placed in a temporary housing assignment during First Flight. All First Flight students will move out of their temporary housing assignment on the last day of First Flight. Students are able to return to campus during their assigned move-in time.
-
Can I choose my roommate for the workshop?Roommate requests are not available during First Flight, but all participants can expect to be housed in the same building.
-
How can I request an accommodation for housing during the workshop? If you require a housing accommodation, such as a handicap accessible room, please contact Talon One at talonone@kennesaw.edu or 470-578-8663.
-
Are all programs on the schedule required?Participants are strongly encouraged to participate in as much of the schedule as possible; however, the ECON 1000 course is the only programming required during First Flight.

-
Can I commute to the workshop instead of living on campus?Living on campus is a large part of the First Flight program. The First Flight fee will not be reduced if you choose to commute to the program.
-
Can I move into my fall residential assignment early following the workshop?Because our teams will be working to get campus ready for fall move-in, only groups who have been previously approved by Housing to move in early (i.e. band members, athletes, Panhellenic recruitment participants, etc.) or students who are moving from a large distance may request to move in early. If this applies to you, please reach out to Talon One at talonone@kennesaw.edu or 470-578-8663.
