Architecture Building

The Architecture building, designed by Heery International, opened in the spring of 2002. It is a state-of-the-art facility featuring 103,000 square feet of classrooms, galleries, support centers, studios, shops, labs and a community design assistance center. It has won awards in design excellence from the American Institute of Architects and the Atlanta Business Chronicle.

Architecture Gallery

The Gallery, located on the first floor of the Architecture building, is 2,100 square feet of bright, open space where the college and university hold events. Equipped with a kitchen and reception space, the Gallery is available for hosting meetings, events, and exhibitions. In addition to these events, academic studio courses use this space for final reviews and critiques of student work. With its wide-open space and varied pedestal and furniture inventory, the Gallery is always ready to transform for the next event. 

Design 1 Building

The Design 1 Building provides collaborative and shared spaces for all units within the College of Architecture and Construction Management. The 14,300 square foot first floor of Design 1 includes the Albion Student Success Headquarters, four shared CACM Computer Lab classrooms, two open Jury Rooms, and a dedicated Construction Management Research Lab. The Albion Student Success Headquarters occupies the western third of the floor with the Office of Student Success and Accreditation, two Academic Advising suites of five offices, a resource center for students, a multi-use collaborative event space, and an around the clock computer lab for CACM students. 

The 17,000 square foot second floor of the Design 1 Building provides space for ten academic studios, a student lounge and resource area, Architecture Department and Construction Management Department faculty offices, and staff offices. 

Design 2 Building

With an award-winning design by Cooper-Carry Architects, the Design 2 Building is over 14,000 square feet and includes six flexible academic studio sections, Architecture Department faculty offices, and a 286-seat state-of-the art auditorium.

Design 2 Auditorium

The Design Two auditorium is a 3,000 square-foot, tiered seating venue that can accommodate up to 260 people. The auditorium boasts a three-screen projection system as well as a presenter’s station equipped with computer, microphone, Blu-ray, and document capture capabilities.  This space is utilized by the college and university for meetings, classes, lectures, guest speakers, RSO events, and more.

Academic Building H

The upper level of the H Building houses the Construction Management office suite, 4 technology labs (25 seats), lecture classrooms (28+ seats), Capstone lab (25 seats) with cloud connection, and a student collaboration space.

Lawrence V. Johnson Library

The Architectural Library collection is in the 58,000 sq. ft. Lawrence V. Johnson Library on the Marietta Campus. The Horace W. Sturgis Library, on the main Kennesaw campus, houses over 150,000 books and 50,000 non-book items. The KSU Library is fully connected and supported by the Georgia University Systems.

Reference and Slide Library

The Architecture collection, and books dealing with some of its directly related areas, are in a 1,500 sq. ft. area in the center of the main library complex. It includes periodicals and journals key to the architecture profession. This light, airy space, in a secluded location, provides an amiable environment for the architecture collection.
